Focused on providing a Debian-based platform to be used for penetration testing and digital forensics tasks, Kali Linux is back with the first update since June. The update that carries the 2025.3 label has three highlights: the HashiCorp Packer & Vagrant software refresh, improved Nexmon support, and 10 new tools.
The refreshes to the aforementioned HashiCorp VM-focused tools include consistent pre-seed examples, v2 Packer build-scripts, as well as tweaked existing VM build-scripts. Nexmon support returns with more updated wireless chips, with Raspberry Pi 5 (16 GB version currently down to $119.99 on Amazon) support also included. Last but not least, Kali Linux 2025.3 now includes the following new tools: Caido and Caido-cli, Detect It Easy, Gemini CLI, krbrelayx, ligolo-mp, llm-tools-nmap, mcp-kali-server, patchleaks, and vwifi-dkms.
In addition to the above, it should also be mentioned that, like its Debian 13 "Trixie" base, this Kali Linux update also drops support for ARMel-powered devices. The list of such devices is very short, including the obsolete ODROID-W (EoL product), as well as the original Raspberry Pi 1 and the Pi Zero W.
Kali NetHunter is now supported on the rather old Samsung Galaxy S10, but it also sports multiple tweaks and fixes for various other devices. All the details can be found in the release blog post (link after the video below). Those looking forward to version 2025.4 should get ready for more UI updates, an improved MSF screen terminal, refreshed Simulator app, and more.
