More GTA 6 promotion incoming? Instagram follows spark questions

As one attentive user in the GTA 6 subreddit noticed, six of Rockstar Games' ten most recent Instagram follows are well-known streamers and content creators. Fans suspect this could indicate a large-scale influencer campaign. The timing would certainly fit: after Rockstar announced Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look on August 6, which will be available exclusively on Netflix for its first six hours, the studio could now be bringing streamers on board for accompanying reaction videos and livestreams.
Six streamers and several other follows - some with GTA connections
The six streamers in question are Jynxzi, MoistCr1TiKaL, Valkyrae, Fuslie and TimTheTatman from the US, as well as Canadian streamer xQc. The selection of influencers supports the theory that the new follows may be connected to an upcoming marketing campaign. After all, Valkyrae, Fuslie and xQc are well-known names in the GTA role-playing scene. MoistCr1TiKaL is currently playing through several older GTA games, while Jynxzi has also featured GTA 5 in recent streams. TimTheTatman has no direct connection to GTA, but he remains one of the biggest gaming streamers in North America.
However, Rockstar's latest follows aren't limited to streamers. The company has also recently followed football star Erling Haaland, actor Danny Dyer, British music duo Prospa and the official account for the film Marching Powder. Even here, there are at least some loose connections. Haaland recently named GTA 5 as one of his favorite games, while Dyer voiced Kent Paul in Vice City and San Andreas.
Community also suspects a connection to NoPixel V
Some users believe the new follows may not be directly related to GTA 6 (available for preorder on Amazon), but instead to NoPixel V, the upcoming fifth version of the popular GTA 5 role-playing server. Since Valkyrae, Fuslie and xQc have all been active in the NoPixel scene before, Rockstar could be bringing the streamers on board to promote the new version. Overall, community reactions are mixed. Some users consider a campaign for NoPixel V or reaction videos tied to the next GTA 6 promotional push to be plausible. Others are generally skeptical of influencer marketing or simply unhappy with the selection of streamers. So far, however, none of these theories have been officially confirmed.
