Chuwi has launched the GTBook X Laptop GamingBook with an Intel Core 7 230H and a dated GeForce RTX 3050 Laptop GPU. The laptop also features a 144 Hz display, upgradeable DDR5 memory and two M.2 SSD slots.

Chuwi has quietly launched a new gaming laptop, the GTBook X Laptop GamingBook. While its processor is relatively recent, the company has made the unusual decision to pair it with a rather dated Nvidia GPU from the Ampere era, effectively walling it off from modern-day comforts like Frame Generation and Multi Frame Generation (MFG), features that are increasingly useful for low-end gaming laptops.

The GTBook X is powered by an Intel Core 7 230H, a Raptor Lake-based processor with six P-cores, four E-cores and 16 threads. It can boost up to 5.2 GHz and has 24 MB of Intel Smart Cache. It is paired with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 Laptop GPU with 4 GB of GDDR6 VRAM. Chuwi runs the GPU at an 80 W TGP, with Dynamic Boost able to push GPU power as high as 95 W. The company advertises up to 140 W of combined dynamic CPU and GPU power.

Elsewhere, the GTBook X features a 15.6-inch IPS display with a 1,920 x 1,080 resolution and 144 Hz refresh rate. Whether or not its hardware can actually output 144 FPS without relying on upscaling remains to be seen. It comes with 16 GB of DDR5 memory and a 512 GB PCIe SSD. Two SO-DIMM slots allow the RAM to be expanded to 64 GB, while its two M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 slots support up to 2 TB of storage. Sadly, the cost of said upgrades will probably get you a second laptop.

Chuwi has equipped the GTBook X with a dual-fan cooling system featuring five heat pipes. Connectivity includes HDMI 2.1, Mini DisplayPort, USB-C 3.2, three USB-A ports, Gigabit Ethernet and an SD card reader, alongside Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2. An RGB-backlit keyboard and Windows 11 Pro are also included.

The Chuwi GTBook X Laptop GamingBook is currently listed on the company's US store for $999. That's not a particularly affordable price for the hardware, but given the state of the market, this is probably as good as it gets for a while.
