Ikea announces YXSTABY collection inspired by Xbox wireless controller
Following an earlier leak, Ikea, in collaboration with Xbox, has officially announced its new gaming-inspired collection. The nine-piece collection include furniture inspired by the Xbox wireless controller and regular pieces that gamers will find useful.
Called the YXSTABY collection, Ikea says it was designed in close collaboration with Xbox, with each piece featuring one Xbox and one Ikea designer working together. Ikea also adds that the collection was designed for both gamers and non-gamers in mind.
The YXSTABY collection includes a thumbstick stool, available in green and black, that was developed from original 3D design files. The stool even retains the grip on the thumbstick, and according to Ikea, it helps keep a person in place, just as a thumbstick's grip keeps the thumb from slipping.
There's also a gaming/lounge chair with an angled backrest, a headrest, and a storage mesh that can be used to keep accessories such as controllers. The collection also includes a green cushion shaped like a D-pad that can be used on its own or placed on the lounge chair for additional support.
The YXSTABY side table is a round mobile table with storage for gaming accessories, while the YXSTABY TV stand is a mobile stand that not only holds a TV, but also has space for your console and gaming accessories. The stand also features integrated cable management.
Ikea will also sell a display box that can be used to showcase accessories and collectibles. The display box has a mirrored interior which helps highlight whatever is on display.
Furthermore, the collection includes a gaming storage stand toolbox for storing accessories while doubling as a laptop stand. There's also a reflective D-pad stainless steel platter that serves as a decorative and functional piece, and a monitor stand with a controller holder for a clutter-free desk.
Ikea says the YXSTABY collection will be available in its stores and online o October 1. However, availability may vary by market.
