Asus releases new ROG Ally gaming handheld globally after US launch with OLED display and 24 GB RAM
Yesterday, we reported that Asus had opened pre-orders for the ROG Xbox Ally X20. Marketed as a 20th anniversary device, the ROG Xbox Ally X20 went on sale for $1,299 in the US. As we discussed at the time, Asus is due to start shipping US pre-orders on October 15.
Moreover, the company is selling its latest handheld in other markets too, also with October 15 shipment dates. For instance, ROG Xbox Ally X20 can also be ordered in the UK for £1,299, a 53% and £450 uplift over the existing ROG Xbox Ally X (curr. $989 - used on Amazon). Meanwhile, Asus' new handheld has reached Australia and the Eurozone for AUD 2,499 and €1,399, respectively.
By contrast, the ROG Xbox Ally X20 is not yet available to purchase from Asus directly in Canada. Instead, Asus includes a 'notify me' button on its Canadian website where one can sign up for updates. Nonetheless, one can pick up the handheld from Best Buy Canada for CAD 1,899 (~$1,365).
Furthermore, the ROG Xbox Ally X20 cannot be purchased without its ROG Xreal R1 glasses in parts of the Eurozone like Spain and Italy. In summary, the ROG Xbox Ally X20 departs from the existing ROG Xbox Ally X with a 7.4-inch OLED display, an upgraded d-pad and a translucent design. The X20 retains the 80 Wh battery, Ryzen Z2 Extreme chipset and 24 GB of LPDDR5X RAM from the existing ROG Xbox Ally, though.
