OneXPlayer reveals new gaming handheld with up to 32 GB RAM and 144 Hz AMOLED display

OneXPlayer is a decently well-known name in the realm of gaming handhelds. The Chinese OEM has now introduced yet another handheld, the X2 Mini, powered by Intel's Arc G3 Extreme SoC with prices starting at a cool $2,000.

A few quarters ago, a $2,000 price tag for a gaming handheld would have been considered a travesty. But thanks to the ongoing DRAM shortages, such exorbitant price tags have become a common sight.

The Arc G3 features a 14-core CPU which is about as powerful as an AMD Ryzen AI 7 350 APU in multi-core synthetic benchmarks. The Arc B390 iGPU, on the other hand, features 12 Xe3 cores, which allows it to achieve almost 90% of the performance of an RTX 4050 Laptop GPU. 

Dual 5400 RPM fans take care of cooling, assisted by four copper heat pipes. The swappable controllers feature custom RGB lighting along with dual vibration motors, as well as hall effect triggers with user-adjustable travel. 

The X2 mini sports an 8.8-inch 144 Hz AMOLED display with a resolution of 1920 by 1200. OneXPlayer claims 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut, as well as an 1100-nit peak brightness in small areas for good HDR performance.

Although the X2 Mini gaming handheld's 24GB or 32 GB RAM is soldered and non-upgradable, its SSDs are easily user-accessible and upgradeable. A total of two SSDs can be fitted, courtesy of one full-size M.2 2280 slot (512 GB Crucial P310 curr. $107 on Amazon) and one mini SSD slot, likely PCIe 4.0 x2.

The OneXPlayer X2 Mini gaming handheld also features a swappable battery with a capacity of 85 Wh. The handheld can also be used in tablet mode with the controllers detached, and laptop mode when attached with a keyboard.

The X2 Mini is already available for purchase from OneXPlayer's official online store. As mentioned earlier, the handheld commands a cool $1,999 price tag as of this writing, with an MSRP of $2,199.
