Huawei is reportedly launching a new tri-fold phone later this year

Huawei launched the Mate XT back in September 2024, and it quickly grabbed attention for being the world’s first smartphone with a triple-foldable display. And now, a few years later, it looks like Huawei is getting ready to launch its successor.
According to tipster Hyperdimensional Realm on Weibo, Huawei is planning to launch the Mate XT2 in October this year. While the company has not confirmed anything yet, the leak gives us a good idea of what to expect from the upcoming device.
According to the leak, the Mate XT2 will be powered by the Kirin 9050 Pro chip. On top of that, while details about the display are still limited, the tipster claims Huawei has made major improvements to the hinge technology. This will not only improve the durability of the folding mechanism but also reduce the visible crease, which is one of the biggest concerns with foldable phones. A previous leak also suggested that the device could use advanced ultra-flexible glass.
When it comes to cameras, the Mate XT2 is expected to follow a setup similar to the Huawei Mate X7. This includes a 50MP primary camera, a 50MP periscope telephoto lens, and a 40MP ultra-wide sensor. The device will also reportedly feature a 6,000mAh battery, which is a decent upgrade over the 5,600mAh battery found in the Mate XT.
