Several iPhone 17 and iPhone Air users have reported that their phones struggle to turn on after running out of battery. This issue appears to affect multiple models, and the cause remains unclear.

If you own an iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, or iPhone Air and are facing an issue where your phone won’t turn on after running out of battery, you’re not alone. Over the past few months, several users have reported the same problem online, and it seems to be affecting multiple models in the lineup.

Multiple iPhone models struggling to turn back on after battery drains

One of the earliest reports came from a user on Reddit who owns an iPhone 17 Pro Max. According to their post, the phone completely died after reaching 1% battery for the first time since launch. After that, even when plugged into a charger, the device refused to turn back on.

Many other users jumped into the comments saying they were facing the same issue. Based on the comments, it seems this problem is not limited to just the Pro models, as even standard iPhone 17 and iPhone Air users are experiencing it. What’s more concerning is that even though the issue was first reported over six months ago, people are still dealing with it today.

For some users, the phone eventually powers back on after being plugged in for around 10 to 15 minutes. Others have reported waiting for a few hours before seeing any response. In more serious cases, the phone doesn’t turn on at all when using a wired charger.

Interestingly, a few users found a workaround. Instead of using a cable, they tried charging their phone with a MagSafe Charger. In most cases, this helped bring the phone back to life. However, even this method isn’t instant, as some users had to wait hours before their device finally turned on. Some users also took their devices to the Apple Store for help, and even the staff used a wireless charger to revive the device.

At the moment, it’s unclear what’s causing the issue. It could be a software bug, battery calibration problem, or something else. But if you’re facing this problem, the safest thing to try is leaving your phone on a wireless charger for some time. It might take a while, but based on user reports, it could help bring your device back on.
