The Samsung W25 is an extra-premium version of the Galaxy Z Fold6 (a device that still costs well over $1,000 on Amazon), and is currently the only mobile device on Earth that uses advanced ultra-flexible glass (or UFG).
The advanced material is regarded as a potentially superior source of protective display coverage for foldable smartphones, compared to the CPI plastic or even ultra-thin glass (UTG) of pre-existing models.
UFG is also thought to come in 'variable-thickness' variants, which might be good news for devices with displays with traditional smartphone-sized portions that are exposed at all times - like the first-gen Huawei Mate XT.
Samsung sourced its UFG from the prominent glass specialists Schott - however, that German company has a rival developing the same material from inside China, according to the latest rumors.
It might be ready to supply Huawei with UFG from 2026 at the earliest, which might mean that the XT could start to integrate it from its supposedly upcoming second generation.
That could make the "Mate XT 2" (or "3") even more expensive than its inaugural tri-folding forebear - which does not bode well for its supposed rival the "Galaxy G Fold", which might be equipped with the same advanced cover glass by Samsung in the very near future.
