On top of that, the company has finally confirmed the X Fold 5's charging capabilities, too. To recap, Vivo had already revealed that the device would launch with a 6,000 mAh combined capacity, up from 5,700 mAh on the X Fold3 Pro. While a 6,000 mAh combined capacity would put the X Fold5 in front of any other foldable for the time being, its charging capabilities are more complicated.
In short, the X Fold5 will charge more quickly than the Pixel 9 Pro Fold or the Galaxy Z Fold6 (curr. $1,049 - renewed on Amazon). However, Vivo's latest foldable will only match the X Fold3 with 80 W wired charging. By extension, this is 20 W down on the X Fold3 Pro and with a larger battery to boot. Thus, the X Fold5 could take noticeably longer to reach full charge than the X Fold3 Pro.
With that being said the X Fold5 will also offer 40 W wireless charging, something that the X Fold3 missed out on entirely. Again though, this would see the X Fold5 fall short of the X Fold3 Pro and its 50 W wireless charging capabilities. Consequently, the X Fold5 will also wirelessly charge more slowly than the Oppo Find N5, which can top up its 5,600 mah battery at 50 W.
Likewise, while the X Fold5 offers faster wired charging than the Honor Magic V3, it cannot keep up when it comes to wireless charging speeds. The X Fold5 will fully debut in China on June 25. Incidentally, Vivo has dropped hints about the X Fold5's thickness and weight too, details of which we have covered separately.
