Motorola refreshes ultra-premium foldable with larger battery and LOFIC camera

Motorola has beaten Samsung to unveiling a wave of new clamshell foldables. Currently, Samsung is expected to keep the Galaxy Z Flip7 FE and Galaxy Z Flip7 (curr. $541 - renewed on Amazon) on shelves until late July. By contrast, Motorola has now replaced the Razr 60 Ultra with the Razr 70 Ultra globally.
Unfortunately, Motorola has given this year's Ultra comparatively few upgrades. On the one hand, its battery capacity has increased from 4,700 mAh to 5,000 mAh. On the other hand, Motorola now includes a Lateral Overflow Integration Capacitor (LOFIC) primary camera sensor. While still a 50 MP and f/1.8 lens, the camera should deliver up to 6x stronger dynamic range than the equivalent inside the Razr 60 Ultra.
Elsewhere, the Razr 70 Ultra carries over last year's Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset with up to 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage. Motorola installs familiar displays too, although the 6.9-inch foldable panel boasts up to 5,000 nits peak brightness for this generation.
The 50 MP ultra-wide-angle and 50 MP inner cameras also return from last year's model. The Razr 70 Ultra is launching in the Eurozone for €1,399 (~$1,635) in a choice of colour options and finishes. In other words, this year's Ultra starts at €100 more than its predecessor despite sharing the same chipset and other hardware.
