Huawei is preparing to unleash its Mate 80 smartphone series in China. Set to debut on November 25, the probable Mate 80, Mate 80 Pro, Mate 80 Pro Max and Mate 80 RS Ultimate edition are set to launch alongside the Mate X7 foldable too. Moreover, Huawei has confirmed that a new 2-in-1 solution called the MatePad Edge will be in attendance as well.
In the meantime, the company continues to tease details about its next-generation candybar flagships on Chinese social media. Typically, smartphone manufacturers estimate battery life in hours, not days. For instance, Google claims that people can expect 'over 24 hours' of battery life from the Pixel 10 (curr. $599 on Amazon). However, Huawei has now teased that it has developed a new battery mode to bring weeks of battery life to its upcoming Mate 80 flagship.
Allegedly, this 'outdoor exploration' mode can keep a Mate 80 series smartphone ticking over for up to 14 days on a single charge. Whether that claim stacks up in the real world remains to be seen at this stage, though. Nonetheless, Huawei's teaser video below indicates that the outdoor exploration mode reduces power consumption while maintaining satellite connectivity for route tracking and emergencies when hiking or camping. Incidentally, the company has now shared camera samples taken with the Mate 80 Pro too, full details of which we have covered separately.
