Huawei EMUI 10 teaser video, beta arriving on September 8 for P30 and Mate 20 series
Google may have only recently released the 6th and final beta of Android Q, but Huawei has already unveiled its custom version of it, EMUI 10. Announced at the company's Developer Conference (HDC) in Songshan Lake, China, EMUI 10 will start rolling out to devices later this year. However, Huawei only gave a glimpse of the new GUI at the HDC, but several YouTube videos have since surfaced along with promotional pictures on Twitter and Weibo.
A major feature of EMUI 10 is cross-device communication, with Huawei incorporating several features to make it easy for smartphones to communicate with PCs. The Chinese company calls this "Multi-screen Collaboration", with Sparrows News publishing a video from the HDC demonstrating how this could work in daily use. There will also be the option to use your smartphone as a trackpad, with Huawei also bringing EMUI 10 to cars, smart speakers and even TVs. However, the smartphone and PC continuity features appear restricted to only Huawei or Honor products, just as Huawei Share currently is. In short, EMUI 10 seems to be another step in Huawei creating a walled-in ecosystem, much like Apple has with iOS, macOS and its new Apple Card.
Huawei has also announced that it will open its EMUI 10 beta testing program for the P30 and P30 Pro on September 8. The program will then be extended to the Mate 20 series shortly afterwards, before debuting on the Mate 30 series. The latter could potentially arrive as early as September too.
