Huawei launched the Mate 10 phones two years ago (buy now at Amazon). The devices ran Android Oreo out of the box and got the update to Pie at the start of 2019. They won't be getting abandoned either, as the company has the flagships in line to receive the Android Q update.
The company has opened the Q beta-testing program for the devices already and it'll run until October 7. Of course, it's not an open beta and Mate 10-series users will not be able to sign up at will. The three devices in question here are the Mate 10, Mate 10 Pro, and Mate 10 Porsche Design. Each device will have 2000 users in its beta program. Also, only users of the Chinese models are eligible. They must also be on EMUI 9.1.
We expect the Mate 10 phones to start getting the update in China by December, with a global release to follow by the end of Q1 2020. Over the past few generations, Huawei has taken to sending out two major updates to its flagships, and that's commendable, especially in light of the company's recent battles with the US government.
