EMUI 10 beta goes live for over 25 devices
The EMUI 10 beta program is live, albeit only for a few devices. As we reported last month, the P30 and P30 Pro are the first handsets to receive the first taste of Huawei's custom version of Android 10. However, there is some confusion over which variants are eligible for the beta program. While an EMUI tweet suggests that all P30 and P30 Pro owners can sign up to the beta program, several people have reported that their devices have been deemed ineligible. According to Huawei, the program is open to the following variants:

Notably, the ELE-AL00 and ELE-TL00 variants of the P30, along with the VOG-AL00, VOG-AL10 and VOG-TL00 of the P30 Pro are missing from that list. If your variant is eligible, then it must also match the C number in the table above. According to Huawei, you can check the C version of your device by going to Settings > System > About phone > Build number. If the above applies to your handset and you want to install EMUI 10 beta, then download the Friendly User Test (FUT) app from here if you have not already done so and select "Join Project." Incidentally, if you are registering from Russia, then you must apply by email. Huawei is yet to disclose the email but claims it will do so on September 12. You can check this link to see if the email address has been published.
Please keep in mind that beta software is likely to have more bugs than would usually be found in stable software. Huawei currently lists the following as known issues:
- Apps downloaded using a certain browser app cannot be installed.
- Screen occasionally turns black in picture-in-picture mode.
- Local videos cannot play using HUAWEI Video when the network is connected.
- Some finance apps might exit unexpectedly due to the compatibility issues with Android Q.
- Some apps might have display issues as they have not been made compatible with the Google Dark Mode.
- Some third-party apps might not run properly as they have not been made compatible with Android Q.
