Honor has leap-frogged Xiaomi and Apple to become the third most successful mobile device OEM in its native China for the month of July 2021. This growth is most likely attributed to the sale of phones such as the mid-range 50 series.

Honor had slipped to a share of 3% of the Chinese smartphone market after its split from former owner Huawei. However, according to the latest market research, it is now definitely back and competing in the top echelons of the sector. Cinno Research has now reported that the OEM came in third in terms of shipments, just behind the usual suspects Vivo and OPPO.

The 2 companies - both of whom are BBK Electronics subsidiaries - moved 5.3 and 5.6 million units in China during July 2021. Honor shipped approximately 4 million units, whereas Xiaomi was associated with 3.9 million units, ahead of Apple with 3 million.

Xiaomi may see a much better August 2021, thanks to the release of the premium Mi Mix 4 phablet; then again, that is the same month in which Honor released its own flagship Magic3 series. Cinno Research has noted that the Chinese smartphone market as a whole rose 28.6% year-on-year by the end of July, with 28.68 million units, 79.6% of which were 5G-capable.
