Xiaomi has started rolling out a new update to the Redmi Note 8 Pro in India. V12.5.3.0.RGGINXM brings several new elements to the device as part of an upgrade to MIUI 12.5. The update finally brings Android 11 to the Redmi Note 8 Pro, too.

Xiaomi may have announced MIUI 12.5 Enhanced globally, but some devices have only started receiving MIUI 12.5. The Indian version of the Redmi Note 8 Pro is in the latter camp, having received V12.0.6.0.QGGINXM last month, an update based on the older MIUI 12. Additionally, the device has been adrift on Android 10, despite Android 11 having been available the Redmi Note 8 Pro for a while now.

V12.5.3.0.RGGINXM addresses both of these by upgrading the Indian Redmi Note 8 Pro to Android 11 and MIUI 12.5. According to the changelog, V12.5.3.0.RGGINXM also improves gesture response times, while increase rendering power 20x. The update contains the July 2021 Android security patch too, even though Google has since released August patches.

You can read the full changelog for V12.5.3.0.RGGINXM below. Likewise, you download V12.5.3.0.RGGINXM via the link beneath this paragraph. Please note that this is a recovery file, rather than an OTA. Hence, the file is a 2.3 GB download that you must install manually. Alternatively, you could wait for your device to notify you that the OTA is ready, which should appear within the next week or so, if it has not already.
