Microsoft is diligently working on completing development on their latest operating system Windows 11. In order to learn whether their system meets the recently adjusted hardware requirements, users had to install and open a special application called "PC Health Check", a rather tedious process which probably deterred many users from checking out the Insider Preview version of Windows 11. This is supposed to change before the final release of Windows 11.
According to a report by Windows Latest, the result of the Windows 11 compatibility check will soon be displayed directly in the regular Windows Update app which most users should be familiar with. The notification is emphasized with a green check mark and should be easy to spot. Microsoft is further stressing that this compatibility notification is great news, and that the specific timing of the update can vary. Even though the final version of Windows 11 is expected to be released this fall, many users probably won't be able to enjoy Microsoft's new OS until next year.
Underneath the compatibility notification, the Redmond-based software company warns that not all Windows 10 (from US$129 on Amazon) features will be available on Windows 11, and that certain applications and features may have additional requirements. This generalized warning could also be intended to prepare users for the possibility that outdated software may not run well on Windows 11. However, Microsoft's ambition to make the compatibility check, and therefore the first step into the Windows 11 update process, more accessible, is commendable.
