Flyby11 arrives to help you keep updating Windows 11 on older hardware
Known for handy open-source tools such as the xd-AntiSpy privacy tool and the sadly now discontinued ThisIsWin11 system tweaker, Belim is a developer who has just delivered another useful piece of free code to Windows users all over the world. In this case, we are talking about a basic patcher that allows to perform the update to Windows 11 24H2 on unsupported hardware. While this tool, called Flyby11, cannot be used for new installs, it works wonders for those who want to upgrade.
Flyby11 doesn't come with an installer, so those who want to run it should just grab the latest version from GitHub, extract the contents of the archive to a folder, run it, and then select one of the two upgrade methods supported, namely server setup or registry modifications.
When using the first method, the user needs to check the Fido script option, and after downloading the latest 24H2 ISO from Microsoft, everything should go smoothly, as the whole process is guided. If this fails, then the second option might work.
Even when running Windows 11 on fully compatible hardware, Flyby11 can be used to automate the download of the Windows 11 24H2 ISO, thus shortening the upgrade process and making everything easier.
The second edition of Windows 11 For Dummies, by Alan Simpson, will launch on Amazon on November 20th. Those interested can already pre-order it for $15 (Kindle) or $24.99 (paperback).
