Since Microsoft will unleash Windows 11 on October 5th, it comes as no surprise that Dell will offer most of its PCs for sale with the next-gen operating system pre-installed starting the same day. However, customers who buy/have recently acquired eligible Windows-based machines from Dell will be provided with a free upgrade to Windows 11 as soon as it becomes available.
According to a recent statement that we received from Dell, the list of eligible Windows 10 PCs that will get the aforementioned upgrade includes the Dell XPS 13, Alienware x15, and Alienware x17, as well as more that haven't been named yet. Depending on the device, the owners of eligible Windows 10-driven Dell devices will get the upgrade sooner or later. To find out if that's the case, anyone interested should go ahead and check the Dell upgrade eligibility list.
As always, some users will choose to wait for a while before taking the big step forward. After taking a quick look in Settings/Windows Updates and discovering that Windows 11 is available for their hardware, consumers can easily choose to update right away or postpone the operation to a later date.
Although the update process itself is easy, Dell Migrate can be used by both consumers and IT professionals to safely transfer data from Windows 10 to Windows 11. After October 5th, although most PCs for sale on Dell will come with Windows 11 pre-installed, business users will be able to buy machines loaded with Windows 10 Pro that also come with the Windows 11 Pro license included, allowing them to upgrade when ready.
