Realme India has confirmed that one of its upcoming smartphones will run the new MediaTek Dimensity 810 chipset. The only device that fits the bill is the Realme 8s. Realme is expected to launch it sometime in September 2021.

Some time ago, we learned that the Realme 8i would debut MediaTek's shiny new Helio G96 SoC. Realme India's official Twitter handle confirmed that one of its upcoming devices will run the never-before-seen MediaTek Dimensity 810 SoC. The only phone that fits the bill is the Realme 8s, which will be launched alongside the Realme 8i sometime in September 2021.

The Realme 8s is essentially a watered-down Realme 8 5G variant, so it isn't hard to extrapolate its specifications. For starters, the 5G-enabled MediaTek Dimensity 810 SoC will likely be paired with up to 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. Similarly, both devices could use the same 5,000mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging.

That being said, Realme has to cut some corners to keep the Realme 8s' price lower than that of the Realme 8 5G. Therefore, we can expect its camera subsystem to take a hit, along with the screen. Our Realme 8 5G review determined that it is one of the best affordable 5G smartphones on the market right now, so we can expect the Realme 8s to continue its legacy.
