Realme Pad purportedly set to feature a MediaTek Helio G80
Since the Realme Pad was announced just under two weeks ago, multiple leaks have successively revealed details of the upcoming AMOLED tablet. Most have been positive but the latest of such is unlikely to thrill expectant fans.
According to YouTuber Sahil Karoul, the Realme Pad will be powered by a MediaTek Helio G80. While we cannot confirm the veracity of the source's leaks, they appear to be considered reliable by some notable tipsters. The tweet also shows an image depicting appears to be a Realme Pad box, which lends further credence to the information provided. A Helio G80 on the Realme Pad would be disappointing. This is the first concrete piece of information about the chipset underlying the tablet, but it's a lot less impressive than the Snapdragon 768G from prior speculation.
A few days ago, popular leaker Digital Chat Station confirmed that the Realme Pad would focus more on affordability than specs—ergo, the tablet will mostly offer unimpressive hardware. This seems to corroborate that and will disappoint those who expected a capable, cheaper alternative to the Mi Pad 5. While the Helio G80 is a solid chipset for what it's intended to be, it's a far cry from the Mi Pad 5's Snapdragon 860 at the end of the day.
Meanwhile, other specs of the Realme Pad have now been confirmed. The tablet will sport a 10.4-inch 60 Hz AMOLED, an 8 MP selfie camera, an 8 MP rear camera, four speakers, and a 7100 mAh battery. Intricate details of the Realme Pad's cameras also leaked a while ago, and indicate mostly low-end hardware. Launch is scheduled for September 9.
