Home Assistant releases app update with three new features

Home Assistant has released a new version of its iOS app. This is the first update for the software since the 2026.2.1/2026.2 releases, which arrived in February 2026 with a new entity picker and various improvements.
The new Home Assistant app version 2026.4.0 is said to bring four changes for users of the open source smart home automation software. Firstly, the company has improved the user interface for CarPlay for those running iOS 26 and above. Unfortunately, further details explaining exactly what has changed have not been provided.
Home Assistant app version 2026.4.0 also includes three new features. One of these is Kiosk mode, which appears to be linked to the Fully Kiosk Browser integration. Another is Mutual Transport Layer Security (mTLS), a form of authentication for additional security. Both of these are “Labs” features, meaning that they are still in testing, though they should be free of any major bugs. Finally, there is now support for folders in the Apple Watch app (Series 11 46 mm GPS curr. $359 at Amazon).
You can now download the Home Assistant iOS app version 2026.4.0 from the Apple App Store. It is unclear whether or when a 2026.4.0 update could also be released for users of Android devices.
