WH-1000XM6: Sony tipped to update over-ear wireless headphone with new version

According to multiple reports, Sony is preparing to launch two new pairs of over-ear headphones this season. On the one hand, the company is alleged to have developed the Inzone H6 Air as an alternative to its existing gaming headsets. On the other hand, it may have a more premium alternative to the WH-1000XM6 in the works too (curr. $459 on Amazon).
Another refresh of the WH-1000XM6 may not be far behind, either. To recap, Sony initially released the WH-1000XM6 in May 2025. Then in February the company updated the WH-1000XM6 with a Sand Pink version. For reference, this refresh coincided with the release of the WF-1000XM6.
Reportedly, Sony is preparing to expand the WH-1000XM6 to five colours, with Black, Midnight Blue and Platinum Silver finishes having been available since launch. Writing on Dealabs, billbil-kun alleges that these will soon be joined by a new beige hue marketed as 'Sandstone'.
For the time being, the leaker has not shared a photo of what this new variant looks like. Nonetheless, they claim that this Sandstone update will arrive on May 19. A global release, this new variant will be available for $459 in the US and €449 in the Eurozone.
