Google has introduced a new Feature Drop for all its recent Pixel devices, including the Pixel 8, Pixel Fold and the Pixel Tablet. Rolling out now, the June Feature Drop adds Gemini Nano, Pixel VPN by Google and wired display output for Pixel 8 devices.

Google has announced details of a new Feature Drop for Pixel devices, including the Pixel Fold (curr. $799.66 refurbished on Amazon). The June Feature Drop also extends to the Pixel Watch and Pixel Watch 2 with a Pixel Watch 3 looming on the horizon. In a blog post, the company explains that it has brought PayPal account integration within the Google Wallet on the Pixel Watch and Pixel Watch 2, but only in Germany and the US.

Additionally, the Pixel Watch 2 now supports Car Crash Detection, which was previously exclusive to Pixel smartphones. On top of that, the blog post mentions the addition of a Google Home 'revamp', full details of which we covered last week. The same is true for the Pixel Tablet, which can now show proper doorbell notifications when docked to mirror the functionality of a Nest Hub.

Arguably, the biggest changes this time around lie with Google's Pixel smartphone product stack. For example, one can finally connect a Pixel smartphone to an external display via its USB Type-C port without resorting to using beta software or workarounds. Unfortunately, this feature is only compatible with the Pixel 8a, Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro.

Moreover, the new functionality is effectively wired display mirroring rather than a full desktop mode, which Google may debut later this year with Android 15. Furthermore, the June 2024 Feature Drop brings Gemini Nano to the Pixel 8a and Pixel 8, as well as Pixel VPN by Google for the Pixel 7 series and the Pixel Fold to replace VPN by Google One.
