Google announces new personal health coach features for Fitbit users

New features are on the way for some Fitbit app users. At the annual The Check Up event, held by Google, the company announced a range of “significant” improvements for its personal health coach functionality. This tool launched in late 2025 in a Public Preview for Fitbit Premium users in the US.
The latest version of the Fitbit personal health coach brings improved sleep staging accuracy. According to Google, this has been boosted by 15%, meaning your wearable can now track when you are awake or asleep more precisely, with the ability to detect naps and sleep disturbances. This data is used to calculate a Sleep Score, with accompanying recommendations as to how to improve your rest. These sleep-related features are rolling out to US Public Preview users in the coming weeks.
Google has also announced a new “Get care now” Fitbit Lab research study, which is being run in partnership with healthcare provider Included Health. The aim is to understand the effectiveness of conversational AI as part of a virtual health consultation. Plus, users will soon be able to connect a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) via Health Connect for blood sugar-related insights. This tool will launch in Public Preview in the US in April 2026.
Finally, Google revealed that US Public Preview users will soon be able to link their medical records to the Fitbit app. This service will operate via partners like b. well and CLEAR, and is described as secure, with selfie and ID verification required. This feature is also launching in April 2026. In mid-February 2026, Fitbit’s personal health coach became available to Fitbit Premium users in the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Singapore. However, when these latest updates will roll out more widely remains to be seen.
