Pine64 has unveiled a new smartwatch. It features modern technology, including advanced display and sensors. The model also includes a digital crown and GNSS, allowing users to track their location and the distance covered during sports activities.

Pine64 is perhaps best known for its single-board computers, laptops and tablets, but also offers an open-source smartwatch capable of running custom-built open operating systems. First introduced in October 2019 as a completely community driven side-project, the PineTime will soon be available as a new version, namely the PineTime Pro. Various improvements and several new features are expected. These include:

  • An AMOLED display
  • GPS support
  • Additional sensors (including blood oxygen)
  • Digital crown with an extra button

Details on the exact technical specifications or price are still pending. Pine64 has stated that the PineTime Pro will utilize "a custom chip", but did not specify exactly what kind of SoC chip the new watch will use. In sum, the new model is expected to have a more vivid, power-efficient screen, support for navigation without a phone and more health tracking features, among other things. The original PineTime smarwatch is still available for $27.
