Verdict - Feels like the real deal

For SKG, it is clear that their focus is on delivering curated therapeutic experiences that closely mimic the real deal. In the case of the SKG PS700, they nailed it. The fact that this neck massage can transform electrical energy into what feels like a realistic mechanical force was deeply relaxing and a bit uncanny in the best way possible. While the addition of relaxing music and guided meditation was certainly appreciated, they were somewhat distracting and were ultimately turned off completely. Fortunately, the true star of the show is how well the device works into the neck muscles, especially with the heat setting turned on. For a device that costs roughly the same as a 90-minute massage, the SKG PS700 Neck and Shoulder Massager seems well worth the investment.

Pros

+ Solid build quality with soft silicone heads
+ Strong mechanical pressure
+ Heats up quickly
+ Motors operate quietly

Cons

- Only features one intensity setting
- Built-in sounds vary in effectiveness and can feel distracting during use
- Hand straps could be more robust for those applying heavy downward tension

For most neck and shoulder massagers, the experience is often limited to low-powered motor vibration that rattles against the skin's surface. The SKG PS700 takes a different approach by utilizing soft silicone heads with a hollow structure that simulates the lifting and pressing motions of a pair of hands. Instead of just rubbing the surface, the device digs deep beneath the base of the head to work into tight neck muscles. While it proved effective, it is important to note that there is only one motor intensity setting. For most users, this is actually a positive because it is highly effective at working out tension. But because the device is always operating at full strength, it might be too intense or slightly uncomfortable for those who are particularly sensitive to deep-tissue pressure. If you can handle the force, the mechanical pressure genuinely feels like a human hand working out a stubborn knot. Also, the inclusion of hand straps makes it easier to apply more pressure if needed, though they could use a bit more robustness.

Beyond the physical kneading, the SKG PS700's additional features are noteworthy. The device uses a combination of infrared and red light heating that warms up in roughly three seconds, effectively helping to relax stiff muscles. In addition to the onboard controls, everything can also be adjusted via the SKG app, allowing users to toggle between heat levels and massage modes. While the device includes a built-in audio system meant to relax the mind, the included soundscapes, and specifically the guided meditations, were somewhat distracting in practice and were often muted in favor of silence. Despite this personal preference, the unit is overall extremely quiet and portable, weighing 1.3 lbs. During testing, the battery life also held up well, which may have also been improved by limiting the audio playback.

Conclusion

The SKG PS700 Neck and Shoulder Massager is a solid device for anyone seeking relief from chronic neck strain. By delivering realistic mechanical force alongside effective, therapeutic heat, SKG has created a product that offers true physical relief. While the single-motor intensity might be a bit much for sensitive users, and the onboard audio features might not appeal to everyone, the hardware's core functionality is undeniably effective. Considering the high cost of regular professional massages, the SKG PS700 easily justifies its price tag and sets a high standard for portable massage devices.
