Gigabyte has announced that is closer to launching BRIX Extreme mini-PCs, teased in May. Currently, the company plans to offer the mini-PCs with the Ryzen 3 5300U, Ryzen 5 5500U or Ryzen 7 5700U, all Lucienne APUs with Zen 2 cores. Additionally, the BRIX Extreme models have the following ports:
- 1x 2.5 Gbps Ethernet
- 1x 3.5 mm jack
- 1x DC-in
- 2x HDMI
- 1x lock slot
- 1x mini DisplayPort
- 1x USB Gen2 Type-C
- 1x USB Type-C Gen2 with DisplayPort Alt Mode
- 3x USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A
- 2x USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A
Moreover, each model supports up to 64 GB of DDR4-3200 RAM via two SO-DIMM slots. Also, an M.2 2280 slot is onboard for up to a PCIe 3.0 x4 SSD. Currently, Gigabyte lists eight models on its website; there are slim and tall versions available too.
According to TechPowerUp, Gigabyte and its retail partners will begin selling the new BRIX Extreme models in early 2022. Pricing remains unknown, though, as does an exact release date. However, TechPowerUp claims to have been told that the mini-PCs would be 'competitively priced compared to other similar products in the market'.
