Genshin Impact updates with 120fps support - on iOS alone

miHoYo has announced a new chapter for its flagship game Genshin Impact, coming to iOS via a new update. This 2.2 iteration adds a number of new assets and stories - not to mention 120fps support for "some devices". Meanwhile, the same feature remains missing from the title's PC and console versions.

miHoYo's runaway hit Genshin Impact now offers various new experiences - albeit only for certain lucky iOS users, that is. The game's latest 2.2 version, Into the Perilous Labyrinth of Fog, comes with new characters, weapons, enemies, maps and (obviously) a new storyline and main event. However, and most crucially, it confers a new 120fps setting on this version of the app.

The studio notes that it applies to "some devices" only, which seems a change a little redundant to log as the new function can apply to a small handful of new devices only. The iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max are, of course, on the top of this list.

Then again, relatively few customers may have their new iOS flagships in hand at the moment. Nevertheless, Genshin Impact v2.2 might prove another new reason to rip that slimline retail packaging to get at Apple's most premium new mobile devices.

Meanwhile, the new option in Genshin Impact gameplay has yet to hit any other platform, not even Android. This is particularly unfortunate, as the OS runs on many more 120Hz devices compared to the iPhone line.
