Apple's latest and greatest smartphones are all the buzz after they have officially launched last week, and profound reviews of the flagships of the Cupertino-based company are slowly but surely appearing online. Among others, the tech website DisplayMate has posted its review of the display in the new iPhone, and apparently the OLED panel that is built into the iPhone 13 Pro Max (from US$1,099 on Amazon) has proven to be particularly impressive.
The Super Retina XDR display with the 120Hz ProMotion feature was able to set several records. It is for example the brightest OLED smartphone on the market with a peak fullscreen brightness of over 1,000 nits. When watching HDR content, the display can even reach 1,200 nits. As every OLED display, contrasts are absolutely flawless, but DisplayMate also praises the impeccable color accuracy of the Apple smartphone.
The anti-reflective coating of the iPhone 13 Pro Max also does its job very well, as DisplayMate could only measure a reflectivity of 4.6 percent. Therefore the screen should be perfectly readable even in direct sunlight. At the end of the review, the iPhone 13 Pro Max unsurprisingly receives the top rating A+. We will put the iPhone 13 Pro Max, and all other iPhone 13 models, through our rigorous testing procedure shortly. Until then, we gladly refer to DisplayMate's thorough review of the iPhone 13 Pro Max's OLED display.
