The display of Apple's latest and greatest iPhone 13 generation is among the best smartphone displays on the market today. We just recently reported on the records which in particular the 120Hz OLED display of the iPhone 13 Pro Max (from US$1,099 on Amazon) set in the written review of DisplayMate. But after the iPad mini has already experienced some apparent display issues, Apple's new flagships are supposedly also plagued by a touchscreen issue that is possibly caused by iOS 15.
According to a report by 9to5mac, which summarized a bunch of related Reddit posts, the issue is also present on older iPhone models that run on iOS 15. Users complain that their screen does not respond to their touches from time to time, which also negatively impacts the comfortable tap to wake function of the iPhone.
According to one user, the issue still persists even after updating his iPhone to the most recent iOS 15.1 public beta. After the first complaints mainly came from iPhone 13 owners, buyers of Apple's latest flagship smartphone were afraid that this could be a hardware defect. But since older iPhones are also affected by the exact same issue, it is likely that this is merely a software problem which could and should be resolved in a future iOS update, maybe even a quick 15.0.1 hotfix.
