Garmin has released another beta update for the Fenix 8, Fenix E and Enduro 3 smartwatches. Version 12.16 arrived just a few days after version 12.15, bringing three new features, several improvements and over a dozen bug fixes.
The change log for beta version 12.16 states that a new background circle in the Active App Indicator, a Sail Expedition activity and another Epix Pro watch face have been added to the wearables. There is a new touch setting in Connect IQ activities. Plus, Garmin has disabled the ability to change languages during an activity; it has not explained why it has taken this action. The company says it has resolved an issue with items missing from the Notifications and Alerts menu. Garmin has also tackled a problem where the first GPS point of an expedition was not recorded and fixed a bug with Outdoor Maps+ Area Select using an invalid location. You can find the complete change log below.
At the time of writing, Garmin suggests that at least 50% of eligible Fenix 8 smartwatch users have received this over-the-air update. If you do not want to wait, you can manually trigger the update by going to Menu > System > Software > Check for updates. You can join the beta program via Garmin Connect if you own a Fenix 8, Fenix E or Enduro 3 smartwatch (curr. $899.99 at Amazon).
