A new Rucking activity is rumored to be on the way to some Garmin smartwatches. A recent report indicates that this dedicated profile will allow users to track the weight that they carry for more accurate analysis. It has been suggested that the new activity could arrive in the near future.

Garmin is rumored to be about to add a new Rucking activity to some of its smartwatches. Rucking has its roots in military training, an exercise where you walk or hike while carrying a weighted rucksack or backpack. Benefits are believed to include improved cardiovascular fitness and back strength.

The new activity has been reported by the5krunner, with the information said to come from their mysterious yet reliable source @Jw. The Rucking activity is rumored to allow smartwatch users to log the weight of their backpack, which is not possible in the existing Hiking and Running profiles. The wearable will also be able to track your walking distance and pace. Plus, you would be able to track the impact of this exercise on overall fitness statistics, such as VO2 Max and Endurance Score.

It appears that Garmin would be the first to offer dedicated rucking tracking. The company has yet to officially acknowledge this new activity, though rumors suggest that it will arrive later this year. However, it is unclear which wearables will get this new feature when it launches; users might expect it to arrive for rugged models like the Instinct 2 (curr. $225 at Amazon).  On top of this, a new strength training program called Get Fit could be on the way.
