The Fitbit app could soon get a new AI Sleep Lab section. One aspect of this tool is a sleep journal, allowing the app to combine your personal notes with data collected by the wearables. The app can then provide tailored insights to help you improve your sleep.
These new features were spotted by Android Authority when searching in the APK associated with Fitbit app version 4.30. Sleep Lab is described by Fitbit as an “experimental feature” that lets you provide context for your sleep data with details about your emotions and behaviour. This information is collected on a journal-like page, where users are asked to reflect on situations that caused stress, disruptions in the night or other actions that could have affected their sleep. It appears that you will be able to either type the notes or use voice-to-text input. Personalized insights and tips to improve your sleep are then provided in a sleep summary.
It has been suggested that Fitbit’s AI Sleep Lab and associated sleep journal may not launch in the near future, as the features appear to be at an early stage of development. Android Authority also indicates that these new tools could be reserved for Premium subscribers. Presumably, they will only be available to users with wearables that support sleep tracking, such as the Fitbit Inspire 3 (curr. $99.95 at Amazon).
