Garmin has released beta update version 21.18 for the Forerunner 255 and Forerunner 955 smartwatches. In a post on the Garmin forum, the company notes that this is a release candidate. This means that, assuming no major bugs are found, a public version of the software will soon roll out to all users.
There is one new feature for the Forerunner 255 and 955 wearables: Garmin Strength Coach. The tool launched a few months ago when the older Garmin Coach tool became Running Coach. You can use Strength Coach to build muscle or get fit with a training plan tailored to your personal goals. The change log also lists bug fixes for issues with the weather glance and the triathlon activity. Plus, a problem where sleep mode resumed despite users exiting sleep mode has been resolved. You can view the full change log below.
To download software version 21.18, you must go to the Main menu > Settings > System > Software Update > Check For Updates. At the time of writing, at least 50% of users of the Forerunner 255 and Forerunner 955 smartwatches should be able to install beta version 21.18. If you own one of these wearables and wish to join the beta program, you can sign up via Garmin Connect.
