Garmin has released a new stable update for the Fenix 7, Fenix 7 Pro and other related smartwatches. Available globally now, the update adds a new feature, improves existing functionality and should contain over half a dozen bug fixes.

Garmin has begun issuing a new stable update for the Fenix 7 and Fenix 7 Pro, which should also be available across the Enduro 2, Epix 2, Marq 2 and the Quatix 7 (curr. $349.99 on Amazon), among other high-end smartwatches. For context, System Software 19.34 replaces v18.16, which arrived at the start of October to resolve various outstanding bugs.

With that being said, System Software 19.34 is the first major software release for the Fenix 7 and its peers since the introduction of System Software 18.14 over two months ago. Unsurprisingly, the new update contains a plethora of improvements that span a fourteen-line changelog.

For instance, Garmin has added courses and saved locations to device backups, which arguably makes the service more useful than it was previously. Additionally, System Software 19.34 is said to improve map controls while also adjusting how sensitive the Fenix 7 and its peers are to automatically sensing that a climbing activity has started.

Ultimately, the new update focuses mainly on resolving bugs, including one that could delay the flashlight from turning on when using a Connect IQ watch face. Moreover, Fenix 7 owners may have noticed in earlier builds that pool swim activities were occasionally recorded with a zero distance, which should now be addressed too. For reference, the full System Software 19.34 changelog is as follows:

  • Added courses and saved locations to device backups.
  • Fixed issue causing delay to the flashlight turning on when using a Connect IQ watch face.
  • Fixed issue causing loss of elevation data in a multisport activity that started with swimming.
  • Fixed issue potentially causing 0 distance for a pool swim activity.
  • Fixed issue that could cause sleep to not get recorded.
  • Fixed issue where nautical units were not applied to the auto lap setting.
  • Fixed issue with incorrect prompt saying FTP was updated.
  • Fixed possible shutdown when using Around Me to search the map.
  • Fixed potential shutdown when using the Round Trip Routing feature.
  • Improved auto climb sensitivity in climbing activities.
  • Improved map controls.
  • Miscellaneous bug fixes and improvements.
  • Updated Translations.
