Zepp Health has announced a new update for the Amazfit Active smartwatch. The OTA 8 update, or firmware version 6.2.8.1, has begun to roll out to some customers, with a wider release planned for mid-November.
The change log for firmware version 6.2.8.1 states that you can now reply to any message on the Amazfit Active using speech-to-text input with Zepp Flow. Previously, this feature was only offered to Android users. Plus, there is a new keyboard for Android users that features letters, numbers, and emojis. It is unclear when a similar feature will be available to those with iOS devices. There is support for more workout accessories, like power meters, cadence meters and speedometers. Plus, a note that the company has decided to “open up the insight of readiness” suggests that this is now available to all users rather than being reserved for Zepp Aura subscribers. You can find the full release notes below.
According to a post on Discord from a Zepp Health representative, the Amazfit Active OTA 8 Update is already rolling out to users in the US, Italy and Spain. The software is expected to be released to other customers globally from November 12th. You can check for the update by going to Profile > My Devices > Amazfit Active > System Update. The wearable is currently available at Amazon for the reduced price of $89.99.
