Flyer unveils premium carbon e-bike featuring integrated gearbox & automatic shifting

The Flyer G1 Upstreet TR:CF 7.63 is intended to be a truly premium bicycle. It features a modern frame material and a mid-drive motor with an integrated gearbox. That comes at a price, quite literally: the Flyer G1 Upstreet TR:CF 7.63 is listed by the manufacturer at 7,999 euros in Germany, though Flyer is also active in several other countries. While the bike is not yet widely available, the first listings are already available. The model is offered in three sizes and two colors.

It uses Pinion’s Motor.Gearbox.Unit. This is a mid-drive motor with an integrated gearbox, featuring 12 gears on the Flyer G1 Upstreet TR:CF 7.63. The gearing is therefore relatively well protected and not as exposed as a derailleur system. Fully automatic shifting is also supported, as can be offered by electronic derailleur systems. This can help riders focus solely on cycling rather than having to find the right gear. For power transmission, Flyer uses a carbon belt instead of a chain, but still fits a short chain guard—or rather, in this case, a belt guard.

The bike comes with extensive equipment, including front and rear fenders, a kickstand, and a luggage rack. The relatively short rack comes with a tension strap and additional struts for panniers. An Abus lock is also included and is keyed alike with the battery lock. Equipped with a battery offering a very respectable capacity of 700 Wh, the Flyer G1 Upstreet TR:CF 7.63 weighs 29 kilograms (64 lbs), while the maximum permissible total weight is specified as 150 kilograms. The frame is made of carbon.
