Fallout 4 to get a massive overhaul with upcoming free update
It has been a while since Bethesda released a mainline Fallout game. With Fallout 5 nowhere on the horizon, fans have to make do with the seven existing titles, which got bundled into a neat little package recently. Following the Fallout TV show's critical acclaim, Bethesda has announced a major update for Fallout 4.
PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S|X owners will get the said update on April 25. Among other things, you can play Fallout 4 at 4K 60 FPS, with the inclusion of Performance and Quality modes on consoles. Last-gen consoles will also get the update minus the new content and cosmetics.
The new Fallout 4 update also adds several QoL and stability improvements. PC players get ultra-wide monitor support and the ability to buy the game off the Epic Games Store. It gets Steam Deck Verified, too. While it isn't nearly as comprehensive as The Witcher 3's remastered version, it is good to see Bethesda breathe life into what many consider one of the more tepid games of the franchise.
On top of everything, Fallout 4 will add some new in-game content and items. It adds a new faction called The Enclave (also referenced in the TV show) and some related quests. A new Enclave-centered ending would be a nice addition. Lastly, Bethesda seems to have torn a page of Far Cry 6's book and thrown in some improvised weapons.
