Dimensity 8400 depicted as processor with Immortalis GPU and new CPU cores in Weibo leak
The supposedly upcoming successor to MediaTek's Dimensity 8300 series has been said to be a 4 nanometer (4nm) processor with at least one of ARM's latest processor cores for mobile devices in the past. Now, the ubiquitous leaker Digital Chat Station purports to confirm these rumors, and to add more potentially interesting details on top of that.
The 8400 will have a single-core cluster at a nearly flagship-grade speed of 3.25GHz, accompanied by 3 more at 3GHz and 4 others at 2.15GHz for a total of 8 as usual.
The clusters are all actually slower than their counterparts in the 8300-Ultra - however, those are made of Cortex-A715 or A510 cores, while those of the 8400 are to be new A725s - all of them, according to the famous leaker's latest post on the subject.
Furthermore, Digital Chat Station claims that none of them are particularly intended to be in 'efficiency' mode.
The upcoming SoC will also have a new MC7 variant of the Immortalis-G720 GPU, although it could be faster at 1.3GHz. Nevertheless, it is now said to propel the 8400 to scores of about 1.8 million on the AnTuTu benchmark.
The identity of the world's first Dimensity 8400 smartphone remains a mystery at this point, although the rumored Oppo Find X8S, a successor to Redmi's K70E or Realme's Neo6 SE might be viable candidates. In the meantime, the processor is projected to launch on December 23, 2024.
