Dimensity 9400: New GPU tests highlight top-tier efficiency of MediaTek's flagship chipset in the Vivo X200 Pro
While most tests have shown the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 to be half a step behind its peers, the Apple A18 Pro and Snapdragon 8 Elite, in terms of CPU performance and efficiency, it's an entirely different game in the GPU department. A new test has evaluated the MediaTek chipset's GPU chops, strongly indicating class-leading numbers.
As tested by Golden Reviewer, the Dimensity 9400's Immortalis-G925 GPU appears to be both more powerful and efficient than Apple's A18 Pro. On 3DMark's Solar Bay ray-tracing test, the Dimensity 9400 records a score of 11,817, while drawing 11.4 W. The A18 Pro scores 8,587 with a power draw of 11.1 W. Computing those number reveal a significant efficiency advantage for the Dimensity 9400, with the MediaTek chipset being about 30% more efficient than the iPhone 16 Pro Max's chipset on the test.
It's a similar situation on other 3DMark tests. On the Steel Nomad Light test, the Dimensity 9400 scores higher than the A18 Pro while also drawing less power—showing around a 40% efficiency advantage versus the Apple chipset. That's also the case on the WildLife Extreme test, where the Dimensity 9400 both outperforms and draws less power than the A18 Pro.
The conclusion is obvious: MediaTek's Dimensity 9400 holds its own on the GPU side and outperforms the A18 Pro by most metrics. It remains to be seen how it fares against the Snapdragon 8 Elite on these same tests, but we'll keep you updated on that.
