Google may be priming a standalone app for its AI assistant, Gemini, on Apple's iOS app store. A Reddit user in the Philippines reported he could download the app on his iPhone.

Google's Gemini AI assistant could soon get a standalone app on the App Store. Reddit user "lostshenanigans" was able to download the app in the Philippines and shared screenshots in a post on the platform.

Other users who tried downloading it on iOS reported seeing the message "The app is currently not available in your country or region". The app allows users to add Gemini on their home screen for easier access. Currently, Google has made Gemini available only through its Google app, which requires you to manually switch over to the assistant by tapping on a dedicated tab.

As reported by 9to5Google, the listing in the Philippines also mentions access to Gemini Live, which allows you to have conversations with the assistant using voice. You can also ask it to pull up relevant details from connected services or apps. For example - you can ask it to pull up meeting details from an email in your account. This isn't available on the Google app and requires a standalone app for Gemini on Android.

Recently, Google integrated Gemini into Maps, Earth and Waze with new features such as analytical tools for urban planning, Smart Search with contextual results, better route exploration and more.
