Xiaomi’s new Poco X6 Processor represents its latest attempt at delivering an affordable device with competent performance. How much more powerful is the Poco X6 Pro compared to the Poco X5 Pro, though? Well, a lot more, it seems.

Xiaomi finally launched the Poco X6 series cross the globe last year as its latest entry in a lineup designed to provide mid-range devices with solid performance at affordable price points. The Poco X6 Pro is, of course, powered by MediaTek's powerful Dimensity 8300 Ultra, but how does its performance compare to last year's model, the Snapdragon 778 5G-powered Poco X5 Pro?

Starting with Geekbench, the Dimensity 8300-Ultra on the Poco X6 Pro records a single-core score of 1449, and a multi-core score of 4265. As tested in-house, the Poco X5 Pro only manages a single-core score of 1,022 and a multi-core score of 2,987. Those numbers represent around a 40% jump in CPU performance across the two devices.

It's a similar story on AnTuTu, where the Poco X6 Pro ekes out a CPU score of 257,390, versus the Poco X5 Pro's 161,915 score. Admittedly, PCMark's Work 3.0 test, designed to simulate typical usage, does indicate there's not much between the two phones. The Poco X6 Pro scores 13,875 on the test, about 10% higher than the Poco X5 Pro's 12,699 score.

The performance disparity gets bigger on the GPU end, though, with the Poco X6 Pro scoring a flagship-grade 8,352 on 3DMark's Wild Life test. The Poco X5 Pro? A paltry 2,465. Those numbers reflect on AnTuTu, too, where the Poco X6 Pro flies high with a GPU score of 523,674, versus the Poco X5 Pro's 159,982. Evidently, the Poco X6 Pro and its Dimensity 8300 Ultra deliver north of a 200% increase in GPU performance relative to the Poco X5 Pro.

All considered, the Poco X6 Pro is a massive performance upgrade over its predecessor, particularly in the GPU department where it holds a multi-generational upgrade. Xiaomi received criticism for equipping the Poco X4 Pro with a worse chipset than the Poco X3 Pro. Thankfully, the Poco X6 Pro more than makes amends for that.
