@DealsDrone and @JasperEllens and shared details and photos about the Mini 2 SE, DJI's next budget drone. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Mini 2 SE looks a lot like the Mini 2 that DJI has now replaced with the Mini 3. In fact, only an 'SE' inscription visually distinguishes the Mini 2 SE from the Mini 2. Several leaked photos confirm that the former will be another 249 g drone, too.
However, DJI has made a significant change from the Mini 2, presumably to reduce manufacturing costs and to give people a reason for buying the more expensive drone. Specifically, the Mini 2 SE tops out at 2.7K video recording capabilities, compared to 4K for the Mini 2 and Mini 3. In theory, this change would allow DJI to not only equip the Mini 2 SE with a cheaper camera sensor, but also equip the drone with a less powerful processor that would otherwise struggle to process 4K footage.
Additionally, leaked packaging outlines that the Mini 2 SE will offer a 10 km range and a 31-minute flight time. Moreover, the drone will support OcuSync 2.0 and the RC-N1 remote control, among other features that DJI offers across its entire product stack. Pricing is not known yet, nor is a release date. Typically, DJI announces the date of a hardware event ahead of schedule, but the appearance of retail units suggests that the Mini 2 SE is close to launching.
