DJI Mini 3: Official photos leak for forthcoming compact drone
Less than a month has passed since DJI introduced the Mavic 3 Classic, now the cheapest entry in the Mavic 3 series. However, @DealsDrone alleges that DJI is nearly ready to release the Mini 3, a drone that surfaced late last month at the FCC. The leaker has not shared a specific release date yet, instead just teasing that the Mini 3 is ‘coming soon’.
Initially, @DealsDrone claimed that the Mini 3 would debut in September, but DJI has moved around release dates in the past. Currently, we suspect that the Mini 3 will arrive before the end of the year, although we would not be surprised if DJI waited until January before shipping pre-orders. Additionally, @DealsDrone has shared two marketing images, building on one that they leaked in early September.
The Mini 3 is alleged to lack the obstacle-sensing capabilities of the Mini 3 Pro, presumably to distinguish the two drones. The new marketing shots emphasise that the Mini 3 will offer the same core features as its ‘Pro’ sibling though, with the former appearing to rely on the same 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor as the latter. If that is the case, then the Mini 3 should launch with a 24 mm equivalent and f/1.7 aperture lens too. Pricing remains a mystery at this stage, but we doubt that the Mini 3 will cross US$600, considering the US$669 MSRP that the Mini 3 Pro still carries.
