DJI Mavic 3 Classic: Cut-price drone launches without Mavic 3 telephoto camera for near US$600 saving
DJI has lifted the lid on the Mavic 3 Classic, almost a year on from introducing the Mavic 3 and Mavic 3 Cine. As earlier leaks suggested, the Mavic 3 Classic carries over most Mavic 3 series elements, such as its 46-minute flight time. Additionally, the Mavic 3 Classic utilises the same 4/3 CMOS sensor from the regular Mavic 3.
For reference, the sensor has a 24 mm equivalent focal length, an f/2.8 aperture and shoots still images at up to 20 MP. Alternatively, the camera can record videos in 5.1K at 50 FPS or 4K at 120 FPS. Likewise, the Mavic 3 Classic matches the Mavic 3 by weighing 895 g, as well as delivering a 15 km range while sending back a live feed at 1080p and 60 FPS. Also, DJI has equipped the Mavic 3 Classic with the DJI O3+ from the Mavic 3, not the DJI O3 in the Air 2S or the Mavic 2 Pro.
However, DJI has cut the Mavic 3's telephoto camera, as the company's marketing images highlight. The sensor's removal results in a substantial price cut from the regular Mavic 3, though. Although DJI has now reduced the Mavic 3 to US$2,049, the Mavic 3 Classic comes in at US$1,469. In other words, the Mavic 3 Classic will save you US$580 over the Mavic 3 if you can do without the latter's telephoto camera. Alternatively, DJI sells the Mavic 3 Classic with its RC-N1 and RC remote controllers for US$1,599 and US$1,749, respectively. The Mavic 3 Classic is orderable now and should start shipping within one business day.
