While the regular Honor Magic 8 Pro and the Honor Magic 8 Lite are finally launching in more markets, Honor fans in China can soon get their hands on the arguably most exciting model in the lineup on January 19, which is when the Magic 8 RSR Porsche Design Edition will debut as well. For the first time, the brand could offer a fairly compelling mix of thinness, light weight and strong performance. The Honor Magic 8 Pro Air is not going to be the thinnest smartphone, as both the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge (from $799 on Amazon) and Apple iPhone Air are slightly thinner. However, both of those handsets had to make significantly bigger compromises, as recent leaks and teasers have shown.
Camera specs almost like a big smartphone
Multiple new teasers further confirmed some previously leaked camera specs, such as the 50MP sensor for the main camera, which is quite large at 1/1.3 inches and and f/1.6 aperture. The same applies to the 3.2x periscope telephoto camera, which Honor claims is the thinnest in the industry and features a 1/2-inch 64MP sensor and f/2.6 aperture. An AI zoom flash is also being advertised, which is designed to cover all portrait focal lengths and hit up to 200 lux or 50 lux at a distance of 2 meters or 6.6 ft.
