Seller lists GTA 6 PS5 disc in physical Ultimate Edition with a major caveat

Demand for a traditional physical copy of Rockstar’s next title is universal. An image shows a Chinese-language retailer promoting a version that includes a GTA 6 PS5 disc. Standard and Ultimate Editions are options, but unfortunately buyers won’t receive a playable game.

Shared on social media, the photo makes it clear the “Commemorative Set Model” is a collectible. One pic displays an Ultimate Edition box, even though it's a digital-only release. The front and back of the case are visible, along with a content card that likely has an unredeemable code. Both Ultimate and Standard configurations consist of PS5 discs sporting different labels.

Pre-order dummy cases at retailers in various parts of the world have leaked. This seller appears to use an approximation of what will appear in the United States on the GTA 6 release date.

The image claims Lionheart designed the artwork for the unplayable physical game. This could refer to the branding agency based in Shanghai and London. However, it’s questionable whether the company would have an agreement with Take-Two Interactive or Rockstar to produce the collectible set.

GTA 6 PS5 or Xbox versions haven’t been confirmed for mainland China. Grand Theft Auto 5 was never officially distributed in the country. On the other hand, the ad may target Hong Kong, where the title is up for pre-order. The Chinese language will also be an option for players in Taiwan and Singapore.

Fading disc dreams

Blu-rays are far from a dominant format in China. Regardless, even amid the rise of digital movies and games, an authentic GTA 6 PS5 disc would draw interest. Yet as the release date looms, there is no sign of a physical alternative in any region.

For now, collectors have to settle for the Vice City Box, which includes a Macca The Gator figure, Oakley sunglasses, and various merchandise. Despite the $400 price tag, it doesn’t bundle an Xbox or PlayStation Store redemption code.
