Earlier this month, leaker Evan Blass shared details about a new Motorola Edge 70 series smartphone. So far, Motorola has only released the Edge 70 as a quasi replacement for both the Edge 60 and Edge 60 Pro. According to Blass, the Edge 70 Fusion is on the horizon with hardware like a 5,200-nit display.
Now, two Geekbench listings endorse the idea that Motorola will soon replace the Edge 60 Fusion (curr. $379 on Amazon) with a direct successor. However, both listings suggest that Motorola has equipped the Edge 70 Fusion with a newer chipset than the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 mentioned in Blass' recent tweet. Specifically, the 2.71 GHz clock speed on the chipset's cluster 3 identifies the chipset as the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 rather than its predecessor.
The combination of this chipset and 50% more RAM helps the Edge 70 Fusion achieve 15% faster single-core and a 43% higher OpenCL GPU scores in Geekbench 6.5. Conversely, the Edge 70 Fusion enjoys just a 5% multi-core boost over the Edge 60 Fusion when we reviewed it in early 2025. These performance improvements are expected to be joined by a 7,000 mAh battery and a 50 MP primary camera, among other upgrades from the Edge 60 Fusion.
